He was predeceased by: his parents, Virginia Williams McDowell and James Jefferson McDowell. He is survived by: his wife Mary Collier McDowell; his children, Elizabeth Ann McDowell and David Alexander McDowell (Kelly Roccanti McDowell); his grandsons, Hunter William and Logan Green McDowell; his pet Clem; his brother Dr. James Jefferson McDowell (Mary Eastin McDowell); and his sisters-in-law, Ann M. Collier and Amy Collier Gilbert (Mark Gilbert). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
