He was predeceased by: his parents, William Paulie Thacker and Lillian Grace Thacker (Massie); his wife Mary E. Nottingham Thacker; and his daughter Pollyann Lea Thacker Darling. He is survived by: his siblings, Margaret Beale, Bernice Critzer, Mildred Toms, Elizabeth Pendergast, Robert Thacker (Bob), Lester Peyton Thacker and Harry Tate Thacker; his children, Kenneth Thacker (Tammara) and Cindy Thacker Fletcher (Steve); his grandchildren, Michael Fletcher, Melissa Fletcher Burzen, Lisa Frazier, Brian Nottingham, Steven Nottingham, Matthew Nottingham and Kim Nottingham Bergin; and his nieces and nephews, Betty Shawn (Neal), Joyce Mays (Roger), Carolyn Montgomery (Don), James Toms (Ann), Paul Pendergast (Lorie), Steve Lawson, Kim Lawson, Wendell Lawson, Jeff Lawson, Keith Lawson, Randy Keys, Reid Keys and Rachael Keys Viar.
