He is survived by: his wife Virginia Brooks; his children, Jesse Russell Brooks III (Dorothy Beatty) and Natascha Brooks-Sherrod; his son-in-law Prescott Sherrod; his sister Helen Parham; his granddaughters, Leila Rose Beatty Brooks and Magalene Wise Beatty Brooks; his nephews, Ricky Davis and Ronald Davis; and his niece Yvette Davis Gayle. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
