Virginia Rowland Barker Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Virginia Rowland Barker (Abingdon, Virginia), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 27, 2025. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Berkley Ward Rowland and Thelma Williams Rowland; her husband George Edd Barker, Sr.; her brother Alfred Rowland; and her sisters-in-law, Emalean Rowland and Shirley Rowland.
She is survived by: her children, George E. "Chip" Barker, Jr. of Meadowview, Virginia, Cynthia "Cindy" Barker Blevins (David) of Floyd, Virginia and Christopher "Chris" Barker (Jennifer) of Charleston, SC.; her grandchildren, Benjamin Barker (Amelia), Andrew Blevins (Ashley), Joshua Barker (Megan), Caroline Blevins, Casey Barker, Charlotte C. Barker, Jason Dean and Virginia Ann Barker; her great grandchildren, Abram Barker, Maggie Blevins and Charlotte R. Barker; her brother Bryant Williams; and her friend Monica Hoel of Emory. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Abingdon United Methodist Church (101 E Main St, Abingdon, VA 24210). Visitation will be held on Friday, March 7th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Knollkreg Memorial Park (556 Walden Rd NE, Abingdon, VA 24210).
