He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Burke and Carrie Burke; his siblings, Elsie, Vernie, Melvin of Gene, J. C., Garland and Les Burke; and his daughter Mary Shortt.
He is survived by: his wife Jewell Burke (Jean); his children, Lisa Bowman, Samuel Burke II, Jesse Burke and Marie Slagle; his siblings, George Burke (Ronnie) and Marie McGlamery; and his close friend Chaco. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
