He was predeceased by: his parents, Reuben Eric Pope and Dossie Ruth Hale Pope; his wife Ima Jean Farmer Pope; his son Darrell Michael Pope; and his brother Gresham "Bud" Pope.
He is survived by: his children, John Pope, Jr., Bradley Allen Chapman (Michelle), Tonya Lynn Cox (Tim Duff) and Karla Gaye Chapman; his sisters, Betty Sue Cunningham (Perry) and Sandra Meadows (John); his grandsons, Nathan Rivver Cox (Alston) and Benjamin Jace Chapman; his great grandchild Coburn West Cox; and his close friend Phyllis Greathead. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
