With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John Peter Montague (Abingdon, Virginia), born in Ashland, Kentucky, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 24, 2024 at the age of 91. He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Ernest and Saja Evans Montague; and his siblings, Charles Ernest, Jr., Roland Evans Montague and Judith Adele "Sister" Montague Risser.
He is survived by: his spouse Sydne Sue Brown of Ashland; his sister Mary Susan Montague; his children, Harlow, John Montague and Whitney Garrett (Joe); his grandchildren, Jacob Montague, Rachel Montague Pampel (Zach), Brittany Garrett DeBusk (Travis), Saja Katherine Montague and Kelsey Renee Garrett; and his great grandchild Jaycee Renee DeBusk. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and grandnieces, grandnephews, and great grandnieces and great grandnephews.
