We are sad to announce that on September 30, 2024, at the age of 84, John Darwin Lester of Abingdon, Virginia, born in Grundy, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the sacred silence of farewell, John Darwin is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that his light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of his loved ones. And as his memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that John Darwin's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Lester and Lula Wyatt Lester; his sister Rose Marie St. John; and his brother-in-law Thomas Camery. He is survived by: his wife Alice Gail Armes Lester; his son John David Lester (Robbin); his grandson William Jax Darwin Lester (Sydney Poore) of Louisville, KY.; his sisters, Cathy Lester of Roanoke, VA and Brenda Camery of Felicity, OH; and his siblings-in-law, Buddie (Nancy Armes) and Lisa (Reggie Carson) of Oregon. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 12th 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Holston Baptist Church (18396 Cleveland Rd, Abingdon, VA 24211). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 12th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
