He was predeceased by: his parents, Estelle Hayter and B. E. Hayter. He is survived by: his wife Pearl Hayter; his children, Amy Dye (Tim) and Hank Hayter (Julia); his grandchildren, Grant Dye (Brennan), Michal Hayter and Henry Hayter; and his sister Becky Trent. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made in honor of Wayne to Abingdon Baptist Church.
