The memory of Eugene Smith Hearl (Abingdon, Virginia), who passed away on February 14, 2025 at the age of 93, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. He was predeceased by: his parents, George Hearl and Trula Hearl; his wife Helen Tweed Hearl; and his friends, Kirby and Eula Smith.
He is survived by: his sons, Gary and Phillip; his daughters-in-law, Connie and Marsha; his brother George Hearl (Doris); his grandchildren, Christian, Morgan, Eli and Hannah; his stepgrandchildren, Alex Nicewander, Madison Turner and Morgan Turner; his friend Sylvia Matney; and also, Robin, Calvin, LeChristie and Amy.
Visitation was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Farris Funeral Service – Main Street Chapel (427 E Main St, Abingdon, VA 24210). A funeral service was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 at 10:45 AM. The military honors was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Forest Hills Memory Gardens (19415 Lee Hwy, Abingdon, VA 24210).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to: the Good Samaritan Food Pantry, Holston Home for Children, or Richlands Methodist Church.
