It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Douglas Kent Smith Sr. (Abingdon, Virginia), born in Bristol, Virginia, who passed away on December 25, 2024, at the age of 72, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Clay Kent Smith and Dorothy Lee Wright Smith. He is survived by: his wife Nora Lee Baumgardner Smith; his children, Jonathan, Jessica Smith Rasnake (Jason) and Douglas Jr. (Krystal); his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Esther, Michael, Emma, Elijah, Kenley and Edith; his brother Gordon (Joy); his nieces, Nora Cook and Lorie Baumgardner; his aunt Louise Smith; and his friends, Matt, Melody Helton, Sam and Mickie Price. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 29th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Frost Funeral Home Chapel (250 E Main St, Abingdon, VA 24210). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Greenwood Freewill Baptist Church (26397 Denton Valley Rd, Abingdon, VA 24211).
