With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Betty B. McClanahan of Abingdon, Virginia, who passed away on February 10, 2025 at the age of 87. She was predeceased by: her parents, Clell Blankenship and Lottie Blankenship; her siblings, Jenny Mae Gibson, Easter Justus, Christine Justus, J. C. Blankenship and Ray Blankenship; and her children-in-law, Teresa McClanahan and Bill Brown.
She is survived by: her husband Cecil McClanahan; her children, Frank McClanahan, Cecil "Bo" McClanahan, Jr., Pauline Belcher (Terry), Betty Keen (Dwayne) and Tammy Brown; her sisters, Anita Stanley (Larry) and Bonnie Bower (Tom); and her pet Samantha. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Farris Funeral Service – Main Street Chapel (427 E Main St, Abingdon, VA 24210). A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 at 7:30 PM and on Friday, February 14th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Green Hills Memory Gardens (11800 Gov George C. Peery Hwy, Cedar Bluff, VA 24609).
