He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. G. Sexton Buchanan and Nita Kensinger Buchanan; his brother David Buchanan; and his son-in-law S. Marc Sherrod. He is survived by: his wife Patsy Byars Buchanan; his siblings, John Buchanan and Betty Hull; his daughters, Elizabeth "Beth" Buchanan (Bob Heath) and Melanie Sherrod; his grandchildren, Caleb Gray Sherrod, Hannah Megan Sherrod (Alex Lewis), Jordan Beth Sherrod and Eden Buchanan Sherrod McAteer (Sam); his stepgrandchildren, David Heath (Kristie) and Tara DeMontmorency; and his great grandchildren, Wilder Marc Sherrod-Lewis and Elouise Gray McAteer. He is also survived by His children and grandchildren.
