He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Perea; his close friend Veronica Wopsock of Whiterocks; his children, Rodney Montes, Chauncey Montes, Angelina (Jason), Tasha Montes, Natalie Montes (Landon Shurtleff) and Vernal; his stepchildren, Jaycinda Clark (Coleman Yazzie), LaReena Tahguv (Cameron), Ballard and Delyle Garcia; and his siblings, Lisa UncaSam of Roosevelt, Vernal of Roosevelt, Thomas Montes of Roosevelt, Anthony Montes of Roosevelt, Stephanie Christensen (Carl) of Roosevelt, Davie Montes of Roosevelt, Marcelino (Esperanza Valdez) of Neola and Jennifer Montes of Neola. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
