She was predeceased by: her parents, William Atkinson and LaPrieal Atkinson; her husband Glenn Newsome; her brothers, Lester and Blaine; her sons, Glenn, Jeff and George; and her grandchildren, Kyle and Catrina.

She is survived by: her children, Shawn, Terry, Kevin, Ladd, Tammy, Janet and Lorene. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
