He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence and Lora; and his siblings, Floyd, Clyde, Bert, Rhea Lou and Dorothy.

He is survived by: his wife Theresa Boaz; his children, Anne Batt (Michael), Donna Sayer (Marshall), Darren Nixon (Melody) and Bret Nixon (Stephanie); and his siblings, Blaine Thomas Nixon (Marilyn) and Evelyn Orchard Gardner. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren.
