He was predeceased by: his wife Ilene Gibbons; his daughter Shirene Gibbons; and his grandson Eric Mercer Jr.. He is survived by: his children, Shawn Gibbons (Kerry), Shayne Gibbons (Nanette), Shennon Mercer (Eric) and Shalynn Doran (Jason). He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and four sisters.
