Myrna Evert Obituary
Myrna Evert peacefully passed away on June 23, 2020 at the age of 93. She was a wife for 71 years, a mother of five, grandmother of ten, great-grandmother of 18, and great-great-grandmother of one. After they were married, Myrna raised their young family while she volunteered in community, church, and school organizations. But the greatest love of her life was raising her children. She often said “her children were her life”.
Myrna was an excellent cook and took her talents to several schools, making delicious meals for hundreds of hungry students. She even worked as a nurse’s aide helping at a nursing home. She enjoyed singing in church choir and having coffee with her buddies.
In June 1986, they retired and became active in their church, spent time fixing up two more houses, and planting trees and flower and vegetable gardens. Mom’s arthritic hands were seldom idle - she knit scarves, hats & mittens not only for her grandchildren but for the underprivileged as well. She would hit garage sales and find fabric of all kinds to make quilts for the needy and church groups. Myrna was a prized quilter and created thousands of quilts in her lifetime. Her quilts grace the beds of children and grandchildren all over. Myrna had a short but successful bout with breast cancer in the 1990s, showing again her strong Norwegian constitution. She was awarded The Regional Jefferson Award in 2005 for her outstanding community volunteer work for giving of herself. She was very proud of that accolade. In early 2000’s, they were able to move into a new home on the west side of Casper, where they enjoyed watching the irises, roses and evergreen trees grow.
Myrna is preceded in death by her parents, brother, three sisters, husband, David, and daughter, Louise Jacobson. She is survived by her four sons, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
We will all miss her generous smile, heartwarming laugh, delicious homemade buns, sugar cookies, orange and cinnamon rolls.
