He was predeceased by: his parents, Birt Ruel Averett and Grace Darling Wignall; his daughter Marcy; his brother Gene; his wife Norma Jean Schultz; and his daughter-in-law Candice Averett.
He is survived by: his children, Kim C (Cindy), Cary Dean (Karrie Ann), Valan Lee (Merilee), Amy Garner (David) and Audra Beatty (Kendall). He is also survived by twenty-seven grandchildren, and forty-nine great-grandchildren.
