He was predeceased by: his parents, Dortha Mickel and Harold O. Mickel; his brother-in-law Garn Sperry; his nephew Jeff Christensen; and his great grandchild Collin Halling.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Kay; his children, James Mickel (Michael Ann), Vickie Mickel, Mark Mickel, Leslie Mickel and Scott Mickel (Kami); and his siblings, Harold L. Mickel (Jean), Dixie Sperry and Beverly Christensen (Ruel). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
