He was predeceased by: his father Fay Landrum McKinney; his wife Jenna Lou Thompson; his siblings, John Frederick McKinney and Joan Platten (Jim); and his son-in-law Timothy Carter.
He is survived by: his sister Fay Ruth Bowden (Robert); and his children, James Edward McKinney (Sue), Sydney Durrett (Gary), Karen Leslie Dickson, Bonnie Carter (Tim), David Russell McKinney (Wendy), Lisa Mary Ream (Matthew), Janet Ruth McKinney and Alison Carol Liddell (Jerry). He is also survived by thirty-two grandchildren; and thirty-seven great-grandchildren.
