He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Gottfried Leyer and Maria Rehn Leyer; his daughter Joan; his wife Janine Heaton Leyer; his sons, John Leyer (Julie), Eric Leyer (Nicole), Kristopher Leyer and Joseph Leyer (Amber); and his siblings, Goff Leyer (Earlynn), Heidi Stuart, Eva Leyer (Jode), David Leyer (Karen) and Andrew Leyer (Roxanne). He was also cherished by seven grandchildren.
