He was predeceased by: his parents, Rowena Allan and George C. "Buck" Winters; and his grandson Alex. He is survived by: his wife Rose Jeanette Garner; and his children, Richard (Allison), Sherri, Todd (Serrela) and Mark (Paula). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
