He was predeceased by: his parents, James Simmons and Ione Peterson Bowles; his brother Richard; and his nieces and nephews, Cary and Brian.
He is survived by: his wife Sheila; his children, Tammy (Brett), Brenda (Steve), Richard (Marlene), Alayna (Kevin) and Sandra (Murry); and his sisters, Linda (Lynn) and Marjean (Kevin). He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
