He was predeceased by: his parents, Etta Crossley and Aaron Mitchell; his brother Willard H. Mitchell; and his former wife Linda Bollschweiler Mitchell. He is survived by: his children, Shaun David and Alisa Kay; and his grandchildren, David, Zach, Jace, Elliot, Flynn, Alex and Ariel.

He died of Parkinson's Disease, C-difficile, and the effects of sixty-six years of Type 1 Diabetes.
