He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Karl Otto and Marie Antonette Kelfkens Schmidt; his siblings, Henry, Carol, Ruby, Robert "Bob" and Joyce; his wife Barbara Joy Brown; his children, Tina Marie, Joy Lynne Tholen (Dwight), Lisa Ann Schmidt, Cynthia "Cindy" Marie Nielsen (Andrew) and Karl James Schmidt (Tanya); and his grandchildren, James, Celeste, Megan, Ashley, Staci, Hailey, Rebekah, Rachel, Reggie and Devin.
