Herbert Rij Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Herbert Rij (Salt Lake City, Utah), who passed away on January 22, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Herbert may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Rij and Marie Rij; and his sister Ilse. He is survived by: his wife Renate Eva Hennig; his children, Steven Rij (Leesa) and Kristy Madsen (Richard); and his grandchildren, Steven Paul Rij, Christopher Rij, Braeden Madsen and Cody Madsen.
