He was predeceased by: his mother Yone Kasahara Starr; his father-in-law Thomas Quinn; and his brothers-in-law, Michael Quinn and Ric Reiser. He is survived by: his father Donald Starr; his wife Shellie Quinn Starr; his sons, Trenton Starr (Brooke), Dustin Starr and Taylor Starr; his grandchildren, Julie, Courtnie, Clark and Kate; his siblings, Peggy Schramm (Terry), Larry Starr (Karen), Michael Starr (Renae) and Rick Starr (Lisa); his mother-in-law Linda Christensen Quinn; and his sisters-in-law, Becky Dangerfield (Ted), Pattie Despain (Alan), Lisa Christlieb (Duane) and Amy Reiser. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
