He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph W. Mortensen and Clara Popp Mortensen; and his siblings, LaWana Moss, Phyllis Bennett, Bonnie, Patsy, Ray, Bob, Jim, Lee and Dick.

He is survived by: his wife Rita Mae Brown; his children, Leslie Buccambuso (Dave), David, Joe and Michael (Barbara); and his siblings, Peggy, Mark and Ileen (Alan). He is also survived by seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren.
