He was predeceased by: his wife Jeanne E. Beal; his parents, Hugh M. Lyman, Sr. and Fern Welker; his siblings, Jay H. Lyman, Betty Rasmussen and Fern Brown; and his son Bart M. Lyman.
He is survived by: his children, Leon Lyman (Teresa), Leslie Forsyth (William) and Jane Lyman; his stepsons, Greg Beal and Fletcher Beal; and his sisters, Bonnie Edwards and Barbara Rowley. He is also survived by six grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
