He was predeceased by: his parents, LeRoy Murphy and Evah Clayburn Murphy; his daughter Terri Hergett; and his brothers, Merlan and Ron.
He is survived by: his wife Elaine Mathews of Roosevelt; his children, Ted Hunting of Roosevelt, Vernal of Roosevelt, McCoy Murphy of Roosevelt and Evah Taylor (David) of Roosevelt; and his brothers, Earl Murphy of Roosevelt and Glen Murphy (Lora) of Roosevelt. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren.
