He was predeceased by: his parents, Charley Gates and Mary Charlotte Frisby; and his siblings, Arlen Leroy Gates, Ronald Warrick, Carolyn Bruce and Mildred Leong.
He is survived by: his wife Sheryl Drollinger; his children, Ken Gates (Bonnie), Terri Monks, Ron Gates (Julie) and Rick Gates (Kari); and his sister Edith McClellan of Provo, Utah.. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.
