He was predeceased by: his parents, William Smith Bassett and Mary Bishop McMurdie Bassett. He is survived by: his wife Dianne Vining Bassett; his daughter Michelle Hansen (Brent); his granddaughters, Madison, Kelsey and Ryland; and his pet Iggy. He is also survived by six great grandchildren.
