He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto Franklin and Eva Marie Walker Carpenter; his wife Lucy Jane; his siblings, Darlene and William; and his daughter-in-law Candace.
He is survived by: his sister EllaRee Peterson; and his children, Kent Carpenter, Lori Nicholls (Robert), Jay Carpenter (Janeen), Stacey Carpenter and Scott Carpenter (JeNell). He is also survived by ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
