Tanner Kem Poulson Obituary

Tanner Kem Poulson, 31, of Richfield and St George, UT, passed away peacefully in his sleep and returned to his Heavenly Father on February 12, 2023 after a few months of struggling with a recently diagnosed heart condition. Tanner was born August 11, 1991 in Gunnison to Rick and Karen Kemmis Poulson. He was the baby of the family and was adored by his older siblings.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and love the principles it taught him and the character it helped him develop. Tanner had a love for all animals, especially snakes and reptiles. This was a passion he shared with his mom. Throughout his youth, you could find his room filled with terrariums full of lizards, frogs and snakes. He had a passion and natural talent for art and creating. His love for Legos started as a child and grew into adulthood. He recently began creating Lego mosaic masterpieces and sold his designs online.

As a young teen Tanner and his friends organized the first parkour class in the area with George and Janet Siggins at G&J Gym. He was very passionate about the sport. It helped him develop many leadership skills as he helped train others, especially young children.

Since high school he has worked for Chrysalis helping mentally challenged adults. He fell in love with those individuals, giving him a desire to obtain further education and receive a Master of Arts degree in Applied Behavioral Analysis and he was recently working with them as a behavioral analyst.

He was few with words but big with action. He was the most supportive son, brother, uncle. His nieces and nephews were the world to him. They absolutely adored their Uncle Tanner.

He had such a tender heart towards all people, always stood up for the underdog. He left this world a better place for having been in it and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his parents; siblings: Brinnley Poulson (Sean) Nielson, Jerrica (Justin) Vaughn, Parker (Nicole) Poulson; and many nieces and nephews; and grandma, Fern Leinweber.

He is preceded in death by grandparents: Winton Kemmis, Anna Vee Poulson, A Jay Poulson, Roy Leinweber; and uncle, Les Okerlund.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Richfield East Stake Center. Friends may call Friday evening at the ward chapel from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. or Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Annabella Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please bring a small simple Lego set to donate to Tanner's clients.

Kyle Finlinson wrote a sympathy message

“I'm so sad to hear of Tanner's passing. I'm grateful for so many wonderful memories with him and his lizards. :) Tanner was always a kind, fun, and good friend to me. I often remember beaming scriptures and games to each other's Palm pilots at church before smart phones. His drawings stretched the boundaries of what I could imagine a stylus or pen could do. Thank you to your family for so much good you've brought into my life. We're praying for you. -Kyle Finlinson”
