He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Lee Fife and Zenobia Helena Soelberg Fife; and his siblings, Roine Thorpe, Leland, Reed, Lavon, Marlyn, Lynn and Alan.
He is survived by: his wife Maxine Christensen Fife; his children, Merrill Lee Fife (Bridgette), Julie Ann Parker (Wayne), Sharla Marie Fife, Sherry Lynn McClatchy (Paul), David Reed Fife (April) and Kathlene Jackson (Christopher); his brother Ronald Fife (Faye); his grandson Jacob Daniel McClatchy; his great grandchildren, Payton Lynn Thomas, Pearl Angel Hope Edgar and Harmony Halia Faith Edgar; and his son-in-law David Ralph Mitchell. He is also survived by his 28 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren.
He made many contributions to the field of Acoustical Engineering with an emphasis on sonar array design, registering several patents.
