He is survived by: his sister Annie Carmoney (Ted); his sons, John Elkins, Jr. (Brenda), Rob Elkins (Lauren Reaveley) and Jim Elkins (Karen); his grandchildren, Ashley Cutler Metz (Cameron), Andrew Metz, Bryce Cutler (Carissa), Kolten Cutler (Chanelle), James Elkins, Robbie Elkins (Ana), John Elkins III, Valencia Elkins, Tytus Reaveley, Pyper Reaveley and Radley Powell; and his great grandchildren, Skkyler Cutler, Aeisha Cutler, Aleeyah Cutler, Dreyvin Metz, Paisley Metz, Dominic Metz, Xander Metz, Fabian Tanpirak, Adayah Elkins, Jaaziel Elkins and Jaylee Elkins.
