He was predeceased by: his parents, James Laws and Esther Petrick Laws; and his son Donny George Laws. He is survived by: his girlfriend Janice Price; his daughter Diane Gates; and his siblings, Jeanie Scarlett, Helen Maddux, Kathy Perry, Linda Bell, Jimmy Laws and Rich Laws. He is also survived by three grandchildren.
