He was predeceased by: his parents, John Darwin and Mary Adelaide Brinkerhoff (Oviatt); his wife Valene Ann Gardner; and his grandsons, Delroy Brinkerhoff (Kathy), Phillip Brinkerhoff (Joni) and Colin Brinkerhoff (Valerie).

He is survived by: his sons, Delroy, Phillip and Colin. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.
