He was predeceased by: his parents, Vance Lavar and Faye Warren Carter; his brother Vance William Carter; and his brother-in-law Kyle Gay. He is survived by: his mother-in-law Kyle; his wife Nina Gay Carter; and his children, Lonni Smith (Scott), Todd Carter (Charlie), Brad Carter (Susan) and Cindy Duncan (Bill). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
