He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Parker Veatch and Marie Madeline Petersen Veatch; his brother Jim; and his son Donnie. He is survived by: his wife Alona; his children, Mary Veatch, Troy Veatch (Masha), John Veatch, Marie Crawford (Stephen), Michael Veatch (Tina), Sarah Furst and Jennifer Clyde (Jared); and his siblings, Richard Veatch (Barbara), Ellen Jones and Susan Veatch. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
In 2014 Ed experienced a stroke which led to diagnoses of Parkinson's, Vascular Dementia, and Alzheimer's Dementia.
