He was predeceased by: his mother Antoinette Calmes; and his brother Fred (Lynn). He is survived by: his father Fred Calmes; and his wife Bonnie Fields (Oeler).

“I will miss Jere dearly! He had a knack for sitting down and sparking conversations, bringing humor to any group he joined. He was a true jack of all trades, and could talk about everything and anything - when it came to history, he seemed to know more than anyone I've ever met. His idiosyncrasies never failed to bring a smile to my face - from purchasing only green bananas to his aversion to gum-chewing and straw-sipping. He will be remembered and missed.”
