He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Cryer, Sr. and Eva Wallin Cryer; his former wife Patricia Anne Wagner; his siblings, Robert, Richard and Patty; and his children, Catherine Peterson (Thomas), Thomas Hugh, Janette Johnson David John (Michael), Lucretia Wright (Tadd), Elizabeth Bangerter (Layne), Bryan Wayne (Michelle) and Emily Ann Rowberry (Greg).

He is survived by: his wife Mary Janis Larson; and his sister Sandra Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Coach Walter Cryer Athletic Scholarship Fund via Brigham Young University Philanthropies.
