He was predeceased by: his parents, Rupert Adkins and Sharlot Mays; and his brother Jackson Adkins. He is survived by: his spouse Virgilene Hatfield; his child Brigham Young University; his siblings, Virgil Adkins, Melvin Adkins and Sharolyn Crowther; and his children, David Adkins (Heidi), Mark Adkins (Nina) and Jennifer Alton (Jeff). He is also survived by ten grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to law enforcement charities or Alzheimer's research, since Rupert's beloved Virgie passed from that disease.
