He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Lester K Spurrier and Orinna R Spurrier; his wife Rose Alice Spurrier (Wells); his son Rodger; and his grandchildren, Kenny Spurrier (Kathy), Karen Kogianes (Nick), Julie Mortenson (Cory) and Sister Carolyn Levitt. He was also cherished by 14 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.
