She was predeceased by: her parents, Saurel Timmer and Renée Mont-Rose; and her grandmother Laure Morisset. She is survived by: her sister La Charité of Saint-Louis.

After completing eight years of primary education at the Sisters La Charité de Saint-Louis in Carrefour, Gladys attended a trade school (Saint-Surin Manigat) in Port-au-Prince for four years where she excelled in cutting, haute couture, embroidering, cuisine, pastry, and puericulture.
