He was predeceased by: his mother Mary Frances Selby Mason; his wife Anna Margaret Coffey Mason; his granddaughter Allison Mason; and his son-in-law Jeffery Rowe. He is survived by: his father Richard Givens Mason; his children, Steve, Debra Rowe, Steven Mason (Patti) and Richard Mason (Kris); his siblings, Les Mason (Billie) and Loraine Wilson; his sisters-in-law, Jaunita Coffey Wampler and Barbara Coffey Phelan; and his grandchildren, Chelsea Rowe Jolley (Greg), Reed Rowe, Mandy Rowe Fife (Michael), Matthew Rowe (Brooke), Travis Mason, Adrienne Rowe Rush (Ryan), Gordon Mason, Malory Mason Masters (Beau) and Steven Rowe (Ginelle). He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who loved him like a Dad.
