She was predeceased by: her parents, Michael Herbut and Vera Herbut of Edmonton; and her husband Ian. She is survived by: her children, Marie-Adele (Travis), Jacob (Michelle), Jonathan (Noelle), Olya (Brent) and Tatiana (Robert); and her sister Barbara (Eric).

Cathy taught at BYU until Alzheimer's forced her into early retirement in 2013.
