He was predeceased by: his parents, LeRoy Smith and Lona Preece Smith; his wife Ann Whitman Smith; and his parents-in-law, Della Whitman and Jay.
He is survived by: his close friend Ann Whitman Smith; his daughters, Kim S. Christenson (Brent), Angie S. White, Sandra Hall (Tony), Sue Ann Gehrke (Allan) and Jean Coburn (Chad); his sisters-in-law, Sharon Whitman and Shirley Whitman; and his sister Janet May (Gordon). He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
