He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Nielson and Dainy Dora Sheriff; his wife Arlene; and his siblings, Mildred Nielson, Blanche Crafts (Ralph), Enid Jacobson (Maiben), Phyllis Anderson (Elvon), Thelma Howes (Gordon), Wayne Nielson (Beth), Vern Nielson (Clara) and Lars Nielson.
He is survived by: his close friend Arlene East; his children, Gaylen Fred Nielson (Diane Woolley), Craig East Nielson (Jackie Thomas), Lisa Rae Lyman (Jeff) and Shauna 'Lee' Nielson (Wade); and his siblings, Dorothy Giles (late Burke) and Monte Nielson (Bonnie Remington). He is also survived by his four children and their spouses, twenty grandchildren and fifty-five great grandchildren.
